Arizona Coyotes License Plate Shot Down

GoldenRuleSml

Senate Bill 1480 (SB1480) failed to pass, so the hope for Arizona Coyotes “special plates” is dead for now. Other plates that went down in flames were “Developmental Disabilities Awareness”, “Equine Education Organization”, “Arizona Professional Golf”, “First Responder”, “Firefighter”, “Fallen Hero”, and one for some school.

There is a table below with how the Arizona Senate voted and the associated contact information. Since it is now after the fact, contacting these legislators will have little effect.

Lesson Learned

PBS8Sml

It’s a lesson in keeping an eye on what’s important to you as an individual, it’s very easy to be surprised by legislation that’s significantly more important than having a special plate for your car.

We owe it to ourselves to stay connected with what our legislature is doing, this legislations could just have easily had a significant impact on the education of our kids or some other equally important “thing”.

Let’s pay attention the next time and get in front of it.

Look at the other plates that were killed. If we assume those same plates will come around the next time the Coyotes plates are up for a vote, it would be a good idea to align with the groups likely to support the other rejected plate designs.

The firefighters, for one, have a lot of political clout and savvy.

It can’t hurt to offer your opinion to the legislators even now. Thank them if they voted the way you wanted and express your displeasure if they didn’t.

The next time, we’ll be sure to call, write, and email well in advance of each step through the voting process. Right?
